Di sebagian skema rangkaian elektronik sering terdapat dioda zener yang tidak dituliskan angka tegangannya, hanya tipenya saja.
Bagi para praktisi dan hobbyst yang tidak memiliki data dioda tersebut tentu saja akan merasa kesulitan, karena kebanyakan toko/penjual spare-parts elektronik hanya tahu tentang dioda zener yang dijualnya berdasarkan angka tegangan dan Watt-nya saja.
